Who are we ? - The CIVL The CIVL structures
The different CIVL structures


The CIVL is composed of five structures: the General assembly, the board of trustees, the studies committee, the specialised commission and the joint trade sections.


The General assembly
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Composed of 39 representatives appointed by organisations representing production (appellation defence syndicates) and 39 representatives from trade companies, its tasks are:

  • To guide overall policy in the direction of general objectives
  • To decide on medium and long-term strategic programmes proposed by the board of trustees
  • To control the action of the board of trustees regarding fixed objectives
  • To approve accounts and to vote on the joint trade budget
The board of trustees

The board of trustees is composed of 24 members and their tasks include:

  • To ensure correct execution of the programme of actions voted by the General assembly
  • To implement the political orientations of actions decided by the General assembly of the joint trade council
  • To remain informed about the progress of the specialist commissions
  • To analyse the economic and statistical market data
To ensure correct administrative operation of the joint trade organisation.

The studies committee

The studies committee assembles the directors of appellation syndicates and the administration team of the CIVL in order to discuss operation files (economics, marketing, etc).


The specialist commissions
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
In the CIVL, there are three specialist commissions dealing with the following subjects:

  • the economy
  • communication
downstream quality follow-up

The joint trade sections
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
The General assembly appoints the members of the joint trade sections.  These are equally composed of production representatives and trade representatives.  Their tasks include:
  • To analyse the parameters concerning the appellation(s) in their charge, particularly regarding the preparation of joint trade agreements.
  • To propose financial action by the specific budget of the concerned section coherent with the overall strategy of the CIVL, adopted by the General assembly and followed up by the board of trustees
