Gradually moving away from the coastline, visitors will discover landscapes of another dimension.
Without even leaving the Languedoc shores, one can already admire the Pyrenean massifs of Canigou and Carlit rising majestically into a clear sky free of all clouds. At the summit of these mountains, you will be on the roof of Languedoc. On the way down, visit the heart of the Cathar country of stones, garrigues and legends.
Minervois country is not far, a land of wine and olive trees. Trek across the Montagne Noire, source of the rivers feeding the Canal du Midi. Then, on foot, bike or horse enter the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut Languedoc, explore the Massif of Caroux and the Gorges d’Héric and discover the varying landscapes of dense scrub, the broom garrigues and evergreen oaks. Further north, visit the Cevennes and the snowy peaks of Mounts Lozere and Aigoual, then the causses of Sauveterne and Méjean and finally the immense high altitude pastures of prairie and woods from Margeride to Aubrac, in Lozere.
