Destination Languedoc - The Languedoc vineyards and surroundings Mountains
Exploring the mountainous massifs

The Languedoc region is not only limited to the Mediterranean coast.  It reaches as far as the Pyrenees and the Massif Central, in Lozere.  Winter or summer, the mountains are another way to discover Languedoc.

The Pyrenean massif reaches heights of 3000 m such as the peaks of Canigou and Carlit and there are a number of locations for Alpine skiing and cross-country skiing, snowshoe hiking and there are even dog sleighs.  The wooded massifs are ideal locations for hiking and biking.  These are just some of the mountain stations in the Pyrenees : Camurac, Font-Romeu, Formiguères, Les Angles, Porte-Puymorenand Puyvalador.

Lower down, at the foot of the Massif central, mounts Lozere and Aigoual reach 1700 m in altitude and provide many different activities.
